The LRC is a busy place for students and staff. Each class has a block of time in the LRC each week for literacy lessons and book check out. Below, Mrs. Mommsen is teaching a lesson on Tall Tales to a 4th grade class. The LRC is wonderful extension of the classroom where students are exposed to different genres, check out materials, research topics and utilize technology.
During literacy blocks students are asked to work with words in various ways (spelling, meaning). Below is a kindergarten student using an iPad to write words from a word wall working on letter formation and spelling. In the next picture two sixth graders are using iTouches to look up definitions of words from their novel.
This past weekend I attended the DG#58 Science Fair. We all should be very proud of our young scientists. Belle Aire students brought their projects back to Belle Aire for the rest of our students to see. We had 59 students participate in the Science Fair.
