Problem: How does the change in temperature effect the amount of moss on a tree?
Hypothesis: If the temp. is cooler there will be more moss on the tree then if the temp. is warmer because moss grows more in cool damp places.
Constants: The tree and spot on the tree
Materials: Tree, Thermometer, camera, ruler
Procedure:
1) Pick a tree to observe for the year
2) Find a location on your tree that is easily acessiable to your group
3) At regular two week intervals go out and look at the spot you chose on your tree (same time every 2 weeks)
4) Make observation (does it look any different)
5) While out measure the lenght and width of the moss in that section (record findings)
6) Look at a thermometer for the temp. at that time in the day (record temp.)
7) Take a picture of the moss in that section (be sure not to zoom so it is easier to compare pics later)
